Program Structure

The DBT Program at Positive Psychology is a comprehensive program which runs over 27 weeks. There is flexibility to commence the program at the beginning of any of the three units. Each week, participants attend individual therapy and a 2-hour group skills training session. Phone coaching is also offered between sessions, as needed.

Individual sessions enhance motivation and engagement in the program, and focus on the participant’s goals around daily living and improved functioning. Skills group sessions cover the four DBT modules:

  • Mindfulness
  • Distress Tolerance
  • Emotion Regulation
  • Interpersonal Effectiveness

Program Eligibility

There are circumstances whereby it may not be suitable for individuals to commence DBT. These circumstances could include individuals experiencing active psychosis, severe intellectual impairment, and cognitive impairment. Suitability is assessed on an individual basis.
